AI Center Project Cost Tracking System (APrCoTS)

Project Description

Tracking of people and funds across projects in a Government laboratory can be challenging because the information may exist in disparate databases, largely inaccessible to branch personnel who need to use it. This can severely limit timely personnel and budgeting decisoins. The Navy Center for Research in Articifical Intelligence (NCARAI) branch of the Naval Research Laboratory needed a budgeting and project cost tracking system that captured and managed information about project, funds, and peformers in an easy-to-use web application.

Accomplishments

We designed, developed, and delivered APrCoTS, a web-based budgeting and cost tracking application that meets this need. With APrCoTS, Principal Investigators and Section and Branch Heads are able to develop budgets across teams, allocate employees and contractors, and track expenses using a simple, easy-to-use interface. They can view and report funding and activity at PI, Section and Branch levels with a single click, a task that used to take several phone calls, spreadsheet updates and compilation.
